Rand(Nerds); Episode 130

Welcome to Episode 130, our first podcast of 2020, and to celebrate the new decade, we’re doing a special episode for the occasion.

TheSuffolkRam and Skazz have been picking their games of the decade 2010-2019. The rules being they must new games or series released between those years. They are allowed one cheat game that breaks those rules.

For our first games, Skazz kick off with Destiny the multiplayer shooter from Bungee, the markers of Halo and Marathon, saving the universe from Aliens. meanwhile, TheSuffolkRam has been experiencing bleak Russian Sci-fi with his first choice, the Metro series.

Moving onto our next choice Skazz has gone for a blast from the past with a game he discussed on our very first Podcast, Hyperdimension Neptunia. Ram follow suit by discussing Dishonored.

Midway through our lists Skazz relive his Armored Core fantasy with the 2019 release Daemon ex machina. Ram similarly picks a game series that finished last year with Telltales The Walking Dead adventure game series.

We then move onto our penultimate choices, Skazz picking the Souls series of games and talks about the difficulty, Ram picks out the philosophic game SOMA and discuss the idea of brain downloading.

And finally, our last choice of game Skazz is split between Steins;gate, Senran Kagura, but finally settles on Asura’s Wrath. Ram finishes off with explaining his love of the Far Cry series.

Rand(Nerds); Episode 129 – Christmas Special 2019

Welcome to Episode 129, our 2019 Christmas Special

Skazz has still been fighting the internet and making our favorite dictator Kim in The Sims 4. Turns out he doesn’t like Donald Trump, and has some surprising stories in his Sim Life.

TheSuffolkRam has been suffering a pretentious developer in Awkward Dimension Redux. A game that feels like the author watched some Unity tutorials, copied them and published them.

We then move onto our Christmas Activities: First starting with ‘letters’ from our ‘listeners/viewers’, plus we look at our Steam libraries and how much of our lives we need to dedicate to finishing them.

Finally, we move onto our Game of the Year, We Look through our games list from the previous year and pick out a few Honorable mentions (Skazz has a weird definition of ‘honorable mention’). We discuss our shortlist and make our final choices.

Welcome to Episode 128

After youtube worries, we finally make a start with a beer can opening competition.

Skazz kicks us off with a lads road trip in Final Fantasy XV using google Stadia and has been stuck in technical support hell over an annoying save bug. Other then that he been having a grand old time in Top Gear meets Final Fantasy

TheSuffolkRam has been saying an emotional farewell to not just one of his favorite games series, but a character he’s been following for many years in The Walking Dead: The Final Season. When we find the end to Clementine’s story, also some reflection on the dead Telltale Studio.

We also talk about Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales new social media site WT.Social. its aims and the problems it may face.

Welcome to Episode 126

We kick off with discussing the game we played for Halloween, Outlast, we discuss how a great story can have poor execution and poor environmental storytelling, and how other games do it better. As well as some of the better animation and moments.

TheSuffolkRam starts talking about a game he didn’t end up playing with Bear With Me, an old school style point and click adventure in a Noir style with an interesting premise but some poor writing and design choices.

He then moves onto a more interesting game with Inside, an indie game with both and interesting style and story open to interpretation and some beautiful animation and lighting effects.

He then talks about I Am Monther, a sci-fi film released this year with some fantastic CGI and an old fashioned storyline

Welcome to Episode 125

Skazz Kicks off the podcast proper talking about committing bicycle suicide and maiming his polygonal person in Lonely Mountains: Downhill.

TheSuffolkRam has been stacking bales badly and bemoaning the lack of interactions with animals in Farming Simulator 19.

Welcome to Episode 124

We kick off discussing TheSuffolkRam new career as a Bass Guitarist and piss off some violinists

TheSuffolkRam kicks us off by discussing toddler simulator Among The Sleep, the beer then kicks in and we end up discussing action films, pubs, placements of washing machines, how to solve Brexit and our global warming survival plan.

Skazz has been playing a game needing a re-release in Brutal Legend saving a band by upgrading headbangers, he then moves onto the disappointing Jump Force a limited three-on-three fighting game.

With very little background knowledge we take the dangerous move to discuss the ongoing censorship of china related criticisms, featuring Blizzard censorship of the winner of a heath stone tournament and Disney deleting Winnie the pooh

We then move onto a film review of El Camino, the Breaking Bad film set directly after the final episode of the series. He also talks about listening to the audiobook Eisenhorm: Xenos by Dan Abnett

We also discuss why Skazz is banned from plugging in electrical devices.

TheSuffolkRam has returned from the muddy fields of his Land Rover show, he talks about how segregation is alive and well in car shows and the new defender and some stupid ‘features’ of his car.

Ram has finally moved on from We Happy Few and moved onto underwater survival sim Subnautica. Previously discussed by Bard many years ago, we discuss turning fish to bottles and drowning people. Also how Ram has no idea how to make a room.

Skazz gives his final thoughts on Daemon X Machina and how flying ruins everything, and what he wants from a mech game, he also talks about Astral Chain.

He then talks about the awful port of Dragonquest to the switch and the quality of the sprites compared to the original

Welcome to Episode 121, Our 6th birthday podcast

As is tradition, we kick off discussing nothing in particular including mafia dons, being stuck outside Skazzs house and the dangers of combine harvesters, as well of buying computer chairs and recently open shops near TheSuffolkRam job.

Skazz has not being playing many games due to being kicked off YouTube and surprisingly not for something he said, but he has been able to play Astral Chain bonding humans and daemons like creatures together with a weird control system.

TheSuffolkRam is still playing We Happy Few having moved onto the next act, He briefly discuss how the game changes things up for the next section and how he has encountered some more bugs.

He also been playing the classic Red Dead Redemption and talks about theme horse naming and his disappointment with auto aim.

Ram has been watching new and slightly disappointing Sci-Fi series ‘Another Life’ featuring Battlestar Galactica actress Katee Sackhoff

We also talk about classic shooter Timesplitters, the John Wick series of films and the upcoming Breaking Bad film. Plus, bonus, Ram fucks up maths.
