Welcome to Episode 81

Apologies in advance for the quality of the Audio, something was making an annoying background hum that we could not figure out.

We kick off with TheSuffolkRam discussing his experiences with the Steam Link and Steam Controller, setting it up and trying games with it. He also talks about problems with different resolutions and firewalls.

Ram has also been playing Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the prequel to the first game (there will be SPOILER for the first game). he discusses the development of the main character Chloe Price and the “Backchat” system replacing the previous games time manipulation powers.

We look at the recent announcement of the Nintendo Labo cardboard accessories for the switch. We talk about the target market and our thoughts on its value for money.

We discuss Skazz streaming trials and his “problem” with PC’s. We talk about problems with threat progression in tv/game series and how tv series deal with it using Dragon BallZ, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Breaking Bad as examples

Welcome to Episode 80 and a Happy new year!

TheSufoflkRam kicks off with some spoilers for the previous dishonoured game by talking about Dishonoured: Death of the Outsider, We talk about the special power of the main character including stealing peoples faces and talking to rats. as well the joyful loss of the chaos system.

Skazz has been playing previously discussed game The Long Dark, he’s not found it quite as challenging as when Ram played it but is looking forward to trying it at a hard difficulty.

We compare our hauls from the recent steam sale, Skazz has been reserved this time by only buying 80 games compared to Ram’s pathetic haul of 24.

We then talk about the big news of the recent Intel hardware hack that been found with Spector and Meltdown. We badly describe how the attack works and what this means for the average user. Plus how people should be concerned about the Internet of Things.

We then look at our game of the year, we have a couple choices each. one from this 2017, and one we played for the first time in 2017. Skazz picks Splatoon 2, Dragonball Xenoverse 2 and Spec Ops The Line. Ram goes for Orwell and Prey.

We finish off with Skazz giving us the low down on his new rig

Rand(Nerds); Episode 79 – Christmas Special 2017

Welcome to a festive episode 79

Ram kicks us off talking about Her Story, trying to find out the story of a murdered man by watching interview tapes and searching databases.

Skazz talk about his latest toy, the Sen-Pi. a retro gaming emulation box based on Lakka Linux. He tell us about how he broke it in just a few minutes and problems he has setting up hardware.

Ram then talk about another communist dystopian world with Beholder, like paper please it involves deciding people fates and enforcing Draconian government rules and regulations. Plus you can send your children to a gulag.

Ram then talks about the return of The Grand Tour, how the series has improved and the changes from the last series. We then move into a talk about streaming services and weird editing in iTunes.

Plus we find out the ‘result’ of Skazz’s Splatfest! And we get Ram’s Rant on sports on TV.

Welcome to episode 78

We start with Skazz talking about the latest (i.e. ongoing during the broadcast) talking about the latest splatfest, this time with the question of Book or Movies. This leads onto a discussion of the merits of books over films and into a big discussion of the hobbit and Lord of Rings adaptions of Terry Pratchett book.

Ram has been feeling the pressure with underwater java based survival sim with Farsky. He tell story of drilling for iron, fighting sharks, looting his own corpse, magic food, losing submarines and turning into Andrew Ryan.

Skazz returns back to Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds Overdrive which has just been released on the Switch. A side scrolling beat the up game where you can drop time machines on people. This leads into a discussion on the bad design of the Nintendo Pro Pad

We then move onto the news that Valve are going to be dropping Bitcoin as a form of payment on Steam. We talk about the future of the online currency and if we think it will last.

Welcome to episode 77

Straight from the streets of Lowestoft, Middlemeiseter has returned!

Skazz kicks us off talking about Skyrim on the Nintendo switch, and we can revel it is still broken! We talk about the ports and improvements in the quality since the technical problems of the original release, We discuss archers and our tactics in Oblivion/Skyrim, scaling cliffs, creepy child adoption practises,  determined NPC’s  and dealing with vampirisim.

He then moves onto Mario Odyssey and its problematic motion controls, hes talks about the game design issues and the new hat mechanic. We also talk about the Splatfests and how we deal with the decisions of which side to take via science

TheSuffolkRam has been make good use of his hand by playing Hacknet, another hacking simulation game. He talk about how the game nicely simulates using a terminal and creating the feel of being an actual hacker and why consistency in simulations are important.

Middlemeister has been burner rubber and petrol in Mad Max, an open world dystopian game featuring lots of killing and smashing cars up. RAC and AA cover not confirmed.

Middlemeister then talks about the recent released Marvel/Netflix TV series ‘The Punisher’. He talks about how it links to other series and how they transfer the violence from the comics to the series

Finally we move onto news, We do a brief followup to the ongoing Battlefront 2 lootbox saga. We then move onto the current fight over net neutrality in the US and what it is and what it could me for uk users

 We also talk about Sean Bean and his many various deaths in good film/tv series/games.

Ram been watching Stranger Things, a Sci-Fi/Supernatural series set in the eighty’s. We discuss child actors, and some of the… disturbing responses from the media.

Rand(Nerds); Episode 75

Welcome to episode 75

We kick off with our plans for next year for a 24 hour livestream hopefully for charity.

We then get onto the main  game talk with Skazz kicking us off by talking about command block in Minecraft, leads to his child destroying the world. We also talk about various story from the servers we’ve playing, including Skazz bad neighbours and Ram wish for destroying the world.

TheSuffolkRam has been playing a couple of games, first a previously mention VR sickness inducing game Emily Wants to Play. IT’s a first person free roaming Five Night at Freddie’s inspired game, very cheap but very basic. Hes also been playing a text based game based round hacking with Code 7. We also talk more Hacking games and game with limited interfaces.

Ram has also been watching season 2 of The Expanse, a hard sci-fi series about a possible alien incursion into our galaxy and the politics between the three main factions.

Finally we talk about the fact that AI has now beating Captcha potentially spelling the end for this annoying feature. And our hatred of modern website designs and security.

We also talk about Agricultural Degrees and Computer courses and our own development. Also the Alien films and computer games.

Welcome to episode 74

Skazz kicks us off with his report on Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star on the switch. A warrior style game featuring lots’ of enemy and a confusing story line.

TheSuffolkRam has returned to Borderlands 2 due to the purchase of glasses (it make sense in context). He talks about strange guns and some of the strange humour.

Skazz talks about the recent splatoon splatfest fest including a in depth discussion on which way toilet roll should be put on the holder and the quickest way to empty the roll. We also talk about the next splatfest decision of Vampire or Werewolves and discuss the benefits of each. And it implementations in various games.

TheSuffolkRam talks about the newest version of Warhammer 40k (8th edition), talks about the changes to how the game works for the both the good and the bad. As well as discussing other game workshop products.

We talk about IGN’s take over of Humble Bundle, and what the implications might be.

Finally we talk about the recent spate of Loot boxes appearing in games and the recent ruling that they not classed as gambling by ESRB

We also discuss the queen housing situation, how to get everyone in Britain to hate us, and out various dreams

Rand(Nerds); Episode 73

Welcome to episode 73

Middlemeister has briefly returned to us once again to discuss the story of his purchase of his new SNES mini, including missed buses and after hours openings. He also talks about the games on it as well. We look at the difference between the NES mini and some strangely missing games.

TheSuffolkRam has been playing another FPS puzzle game with Infinifactory. Building complex assembly lines making box based object for his alien overlords and getting random items as rewards.

We then begin discussing the new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery. Big spoiler warning for this one. Ram wasn’t impressed, Middlemeiester preferred it more. We talk about the opening two episodes, the character development in it, the futuristic space ships and revamped Klingon’s.

We briefly talk about Wolfenstein 2 and the lack of automatically health recovery and why were glad quick saves don’t exist in real life.

We talk about the upcoming splatfest and the physic of toilet roll.

We also talk about Skazz domain of little people and the return of his WiiU

Rand(Nerds); Episode 72

Welcome to episode 72

We kick off with discussing Black Mesa, the remake of the original Half Life. Both TheSuffolkRam and Skazz has been playing this following on from last episode discussion, Rams been getting nostalgia, Skazz less so.  We discuss our opinions on it, as well as Half Life in general and an alternative theory on Gordon Freeman.

We then move onto talking about Ram’s latest purchase, an Oculus Rift, he talks about the joy of setting it up, the magic that is VR and both good and bad game experiences.

We also discuss the various pictures appearing on Skazz’s Linux computer, writing on animals, Ethernet’s, boilers, health apps, and Skazz experience playing laser tag.
